Alternative Accretion of Spheres – 1

Very important is a good sense of where CBA geometry comes from. First recall how in concluding the code orientation,  a pitfall was identified in propagating the bode pattern with an indefinite accretion of spheres. Fortunately, the bode supplies plane and principle by which to adjoin a most useful and complementary form – minus the form’s duality. Focusing on any square, a new sphere is placed on any corner sphere to form mutual right angles with the underlying sides converging there.

Such a placement represents a radical departure from the original square formation in that this sphere stands on principle alone – without the support that nesting provides. Similar placement of 3 more spheres results in the complete 3D circuit of right angles that constitutes a cube. As rare in nature as it is ubiquitous in civilization, the cube, with its most economic expression of 3 dimensions, offers infinite pattern extendibility and divisibility – in a uniform manner.

Celestial Co-cubes – 2

To determine which square(s) to base the cube(s) upon, the geocentric cuboda guides the way. To select either pair of skewed polar-pegged squares challenges the cube’s uniformity quality; but employing the lone pair of opposing equatorial squares upholds this key attribute, as cubes based on these parallel each other in every way, or in another sense one cube can be regarded as an extension of the other. Alas, however that may be, the alignment of the opposing celestial co-cubes must part ways to serve very different purposes.

In order to apply all this, the cubed geocentric cuboda is spun about its natural axis so that one cube faces a specified longitude wherefrom it projects its pattern to earth from the corresponding latitude of interest. After next positioning the co-cube logitudinally, it is rotated about the cuboda’s equatorial axis such that it projects its pattern to a specified latitude of earth’s surface perpendicularly. By such method do the celestial cubes manifest locally, comically, and in an absolute/relative dichotomy akin to the sun and the moon.

Architectural Reconstitution – 3

As the parallelism of the celestial co-cubes was broken before projecting their patterns to earth, so they are brought back together at whatever specified location where they are juxtaposed to guide the design of vital architectural components. In particular, img_0036the co-cube pattern pertains to walls, ceilings, and floors; and the prime cube pertains to a complementary roof scheme. As east and west facing planes of both projection patterns parallel but are rotated relative to each other in that plane, circular windows are appropriate there. In contrast to the conventionality of the top view and north and south elevations, the profile is unconventional. Aside from the practical values described below, the roof scheme evokes the 2 realms of the limited lateral and infinite above corresponding to social and spiritual dimensions – as well as their connection.

CBA Roundedness – 4

By reason of the preceding development, the cube can be viewed as the crowning result of a rational accretion of spheres. As interplay between intrinsic squares and spheres (especially the central sphere of earth) results in the 2D circle, this influence plays out in a radial layout that informs CBA rectilinearity and its east-west bias, e.g., with concentric living areas surrounding a central pad elevated for seating.

The elevated living center might host a cartable woodstove, waterfall, and planter in accordance with the season. Private sleeping/bathing areas would then bookend the otherwise open “grand room”. In profile, the overarching circle of the asymmetric cube planes’ rotation suggests a low, dark, and cozy zone opening to a high, light, and airy one that advances the space’s rectilinearly organzied breath-ability.

Aside from being conducive to natural ventilation, precise east-west orientation affords maximal passive solar utilization, and facilitates construction of a set of customized sun-path charts for such.

From one master chart keyed to latitude, separate ones for east, west, and polar-facing walls are as easily made as that facing the equator. Because the abode does have a side facing the equator precisely, and the equatorial-facing roof angle equals latitude, this roof faces the exact center of all sun positions for every hour of every day of the year. Thus is it optimally oriented for photovoltaic and hot water panels.

The latitude-keyed roof is also best for the passive cooling of high albedo reflective coatings. Compartmentalizing the roof for this and the active solar panels is made easier by employing a universal chart – so characterized because CBA roofs at every latitude parallel a flat plane on the equator south (or north) of them.
